March 30th: Katie & Jack

Katie & Jack held a very cool wedding & reception at 1617 Event Space. The space totally matched their personality & style...and the flowers were perfect! Katie carried a bouquet of green cymbidium orchids accented with curly willow.

We created centerpieces composed of different elements that were placed together on the tables. Some tables had cube quartets with green spider mums or deep purple carnations & cymbidium orchid candles floating amongst submerged curly willow branches.
The centerpiece above is actually 3 rectangle vases filled with composite style arrangements of spider mums, hypericum berries, carnations, & dahlias. The vases were then placed side by side on the table to create the look of a large square.
Other tables had cube trios with a small vase of peonies or rannuculus, a medium vase of green hydrangea with curly willow accents, & a tall vase with curly willow submerged under water & topped with a floating spider mum.

The last style was a medium cube of green hydrangea surrounded by smaller cubes of burgundy dahlias.

I thought everything we created fit the space perfectly! I can't wait to see the professional pictures when all of the candles are lit & the lights are dimmed. I think it will come off as the perfect "Urban Chic" event!

Two more weeks off, then watch for something every week until at least July! Lots of great stuff still to come!

3/29 Wedding

Saturday I had a small wedding held at Unity Village in Lee's Summit. I only provided bouquets, boutonnieres, & a small arrangement for the altar. The picture goes to show, the small events can be cool too! The bride chose to use all white roses & black feathers for the bouquets. I thought they turned out awesome!

A New Twist on the "Old" Corsage!

This week I attended a corsage workshop sponsored by my wholesaler. I had no idea what to expect but was blown away by the presentation! I am so excited about the new trends that are emerging! Corsages & boutonnieres are one of my least favorite things to do on a wedding, but now I am filled with enthusiasm with the ideas I received that night!

Now bride's have a multitude of options to really show their personality & the personality of the person wearing the corsage! No longer do you have to settle for the elastic or velcro wristlet with the "prom" style flowers. You can be modern & fresh!

I also learned how to make the coolest floral finger rings! I don't have a picture yet, but check back soon! I made one yesterday & it is in my cooler! Just looking for the right photo op!

My First Photo Shoot!

How exciting! I know people get to do it all the time, but since I don't advertise in any of the wedding magazines, I don't normally get asked to provide flowers for a shoot!

I did get asked by a local magazine called BIAO, to participate in their wedding issue that will come out next month. I haven't seen the professional shots yet, but here are my pictures of the flowers I provided.

March 8th: Nicole & Ben

Nicole & Ben's reception was held at the Berg Event Space. We really wanted the flowers to fit with the contemporary vibe of the space, so we created several different arrangements to complete the look. 5 of the tables housed cube vases filled with single flower varieties. The inside of the cubes were wrapped with large aspidistra leaves. Flowers used were Stargazer Lillies, Roses, & Tulips. Another 5 tables were decorated with tall cylinder vases with stems submerged under water. Pictured above is a contemporary swirling of French Tulips & Bear Grass. Other vases held a stem of pale pink cymbidium orchids. All vases were uplit from the bottom using disc lights.
A third style we created were pink carnation orbs sitting atop varying heights of cylinder vases. The inside of the vases were accented with a metallic pink wire. These were also illuminated from the bottom & created a very unique look!
The remaining tables were decorated with the ever-popular cylinder trios with submerged orchids, tulips, & rose petals & topped with floating candles.
I thought this centerpiece was perfectly fitting for the kids table! A youthful display of pale pink daisies arranged into orbs & placed atop cylinder vases.
