Change is Good

As many of you already know...I have merged with Needham Floral! I am very excited for this new chapter in the evolution of Bella Design Studio!

Why the change? Plain & simple, I didn't want the liabilities involved with being self-employed any longer. I learned everything I know from Dan Needham when I began working for him in November of 1999. Since then, I have remained close with the business & it's employees, even after starting Bella in 2005. I am now the Wedding Consultant & Designer for Needham Floral.

What does that mean for current & prospective brides? Nothing has changed in how your weddings are priced, designed, delivered, etc. The only difference is that all payments are now made to Needham Floral instead of Bella. I am still your point of contact & will oversee all elements of the flowers for your wedding.

Keep your eye out for other changes as well! I am in the process of creating a new logo to incorporate both the Bella & Needham brands. We will also be launching a new website in the coming months!

One of my favorite color schemes from last year! I can't believe it took me this long to post it!

The bridal bouquet was composed of eggplant mini callas, peach garden roses, & lady slipper orchids. The bridesmaids carried striking bouquets in shades of peach & burnt orange!

For the reception, the venue offered colored lighting, so we didn't want the flowers to get lost in the light show...so we opted for all white! Lampshades, purple water, artichokes, & kale all set the stage for a fabulous event!

A traditional fall wedding! The bride carried a bouquet composed of all white & ivory roses. The bridesmaids carried an assortment of roses & dahlias in shades of red.

The reception tables displayed centerpieces in three different styles. My favorite...the Pottery Barn branches for the tall centerpieces!! I own & rent these for arrangments. Such a simple & inexpensive option for lots of WOW!

Not only did I provide the fabulous flowers for this event...but I was a bridesmaid as well! Therefore, there aren't any pictures of the bridal party bouquets, just centerpieces. The bride's favorite color is hot pink & favorite flower is the gerber daisy. And she requested lots of BLING! This is what I came up with.

August 22nd: Barnes - Ruhnke Wedding

This was my favorite wedding of the year so far! And also my inspiration to finally update my blog! : ) Maybe my favorite because the bride was very laid back, only choosing a color scheme & the flower selection was up to me. I loved how it turned out! The bouquets were composed of roses, dahlias, hydrangea, lisianthus, cymbidium orchids, & hypericum berries. The bride provided brooches for the stems of the bridesmaid bouquets.
Three different centerpiece styles decorated the venue. First was a trio of white vases with orbs topping the tall vases & whimsical gerber daisies in the shorter.

Another trio of glass cylinders with creative displays of assorted flowers & bear grass.

Last, but not least, tall cylinder vases topped with bouquets of assorted flowers. Accented with rhinestone buckles & uplights.

The doors of the church were decorated with monograms covered in moss & accented with floral clusters.

The altar housed vases of calla lillies with wreaths of colorful blooms. The unity candle was made up of cylinder vases with floating candles surrounded by cylinders with pillar candles in memory of passed family members. All vases were wrapped in Tiffany blue ribbon & rhinestone buckles.

The wedding was held at Central United Methodist Church. The reception was held at Club 1000.

I would also like to mention that both weddings I did this weekend were coordinated by the girls at You're Invited. I love working with them! They do a fabulous job & are so easy to work with! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a coordinator for their wedding.

My only instructions for this event was to create centerpieces using the bride's aqua chargers. Here is what I came up with! Roses, dahlias, zinnias, delphinium, & hypericum berries with a votive candle to boot!

The rehearsal dinner was held at Jack Stack Freighthouse in Kansas City, MO.

Pretty dahlias set the stage for this wedding! The bride carried a bouquet of burgundy dahlias & green hypericum. The bridesmaids carried dahlias in shades of burgundy, orange, & deep pink. Whimsical dahlia displays decorated 1/2 of the tables at the reception while cube vases with clusters of multi-colored dahlias graced the other 1/2 of the tables.

August 1st: A Tale of Two Weddings

Wedding #1 was centered around blue hydrangea. The bride's bouquet was composed of hydrangea, mint, blue thistle, kale, & fern curls. Tall cylinder vases topped with arrangements of blue hydrangea & uplit from the base with disc lights were on some of the tables.
Other tables were blueberry filled glass bowls accented with floating candles.

Wedding #2 was more of a green affair! The bride carried a bouquet of champagne roses, hydrangea, & cymbidium orchids.

Centerpieces were tall cylinder vases filled with green apples, curly willow branches, & cymbidium orchids.

The bridesmaid carried a similar bouquet heavier to orange tones.

May 9th: Noah Wedding

It wouldn't be May if I didn't have at least one wedding with an all peony bouquet! This bride chose a palette of pinks for her bouquet. Bridesmaids carried an assortment of lime green flowers. Flowers consisted of spider mums, kermit poms, hydrangea, hypericum berries, & cymbidium orchids.

Centerpieces were bouquets of peonies, hydrangea, kermit poms, & boronia set inside a vase of sliced limes. Satellite vases of spider mums wrapped in decorative ribbons finished the display.

The wedding & reception were held at Bliss Plaza in Greenwood, MO.

May 23rd: Clubhouse on Baltimore

Unexpected touches of kale made this May wedding unique! The bridal bouquet contained peonies, roses, rannuculus, & white kale. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of green kale, green trick, scabiosa pods, lysmachia, & parrot tulips. Very cool & unique. The bouquets were striking against their champagne dresses.

The ceremony stage was flanked with arrangements of roses, hydrangea, peonies, & more kale!

The wedding & reception were held at Clubhouse on Baltimore in Kansas City, MO.

May 9th: Natural Look

The bride requested a gathered, natural bouquet of flowers that appeared to be grown in her own backyard. Since there's not much to choose from in Kansas in early May, we did this instead! Flowers consisted of snapdragons, larkspur, stock, & a few pink orchids.

Another amazing creation by Rebekah Foster! My friend was hosting a 60th birthday party for her dad who loves his electric guitar! This is all cake! The handle was chocolate & the rest was white! So realistic, no one believed it was really a cake until we cut into it!

The wedding was shades of purple from lavender to eggplant. Flower selection included roses, sweet pea, lisianthus, dusty miller, & grape hyacinth to name a few.

March 21st: KISS Events "Engaged" Seminar

Sharon with KISS Events invited me to participate in a seminar for newly engaged couples. The event focused on how to have an elegant event without breaking the bank. Here are a few of my designs that fit the theme!A lot of bang for the buck! If you are concerned about having one small centerpiece in the center of a 60" round, this is an excellent alternative. You can choose from several different flower varieties to help adjust cost. The bride provides her own candles, so the cost of this with vase rental, ribbon, flowers, & votives can start at $45 per table!
Simple rose bowl jazzed up with a boa of pale pink feathers! Starting at $35.

Simple hydrangea dressed up with coordinating ribbons on varying size cube vases. Starting at $35.

Fun, funky, unique bridal bouquet. Not a bargain bouquet, but just wanted to show how to do something out of the ordinary, but still be "bridal." I used roses, spider gerber daisies, orchids, fern curls, dianthus, lysmachia, etc. The stems were wrapped in a dark brown twine.

This is a budget friendly alternative. Bouquet composed of all white hydrangea. Very beautiful, simple, & elegant! This bridal bouquet would only be $50! I encourage any bride who is on a tight budget & looking to have gorgeous bridal party flowers, church decorations, & centerpieces to look at doing an all hydrangea wedding!

Bridal bouquet designed in layered fashion. Hot pink gerber daisies surrounded by ring of delphinium, spider mums, roses, & hypericum. Bridesmaids each carried a different color to coordinate with their shoes! Thought that was a very cute idea!

Several centerpiece styles filled the reception. The theme was bright, colorful, & family friendly. Here are a few of the styles I created!

The front of the head table was lined with 30 blooms of hot pink roses displayed in small cube vases.

February 21st: Jessica & Zach

Jessica & Zach's wedding was so much fun for me! What a great time to be able to work with bright colors, fun flowers, & creative design styles. The perfect cure to the winter blah's! We did three different centerpiece styles. The first was my new twist on the cylinder trios with floating candles. Instead of putting the flowers under water, we surrounded the base of the vases with a wreath of colorful blooms.
Second, the ever popular curly willow "tree" with gerber daisies attached to the branches. The vase was uplit from the base with disc lights. I should trademark this thing!

Third, cube vases filled with sliced limes & bright orange gerber daisies.

The head table was lined with cute little cubes of assorted bright flowers. The girls were also going to place their bouquets down the center of the table after the ceremony.

I thought the cakes were super cute! I left the baker's card in my toolbox, so I will have to come back & update with their info at a later time. I am just happy to have something to blog about right now! Really slow time for me!

December 28th: Shelly & Tyler

What a fun event! Shelly & Tyler were looking to create a "Winter Wonderland" theme for their event on December 28th.
I didn't really have a ton of design work to do, but I did get to sharpen up my labor chops! We hung Chinese lanterns from the ceiling, draped the fireplace in fabric & twinkle lights, & erected somewhat of a winter woodland for the ceremony area! We were on site for nearly 5 hours but it looked great!
Luckily, Josh & Jenny Solar were the photographers, so I am stealing their shots for the blog. Way better than the ones I took! Enjoy!

Shelly was all about the bling! Her bouquet was full of crystals, rhinestones, sparkle sticks, & more. You can't see it here but the stems were actually a in a sterling silver cone. Very cool!

Shelly & Tyler's daughters were the bridesmaids. They all carried kissing balls composed of white hydrangea & silver ribbon.

The branches for the ceremony area were 4 - 12 foot all birch tops. The branches were decorated with hanging crystals, snowflakes, & votives.

Great shot! The trees weren't actually in front of the fireplace, but I am glad they took this shot! You couldn't really see the trees in the other photos due to the large bay window they sat in front of!

December 6th: Sip & See - Colleyville, TX

I received a call from a lady in Colleyville, Texas who stumbled across my blog & asked if I would consider a trip down to provide the floral decor for her Sip & See event! Of course I said yes!!!

Back to reality...the lady is actually my friend Brandi who I go visit quite often! Brandi just had her second baby & hosted a Sip & See at her house for friends & family to drop in, have a bite to eat, visit with friends, & see the newest addition to the family!

Obviously, the baby is a girl! We used flowers in many shades of pink & accented everything with her name or initials, feathers, & lots of sparkle! The rose balls above even had silver lettering that spelled out Ella. So cute!

The wreath graced the front door & gave guests a sneak peek as to what was going to be inside! Did you notice the floral "purse" a few pictures up?? It was a day that I was feeling very creative I guess!

In the entry we placed a curly willow tree with cards that guests could fill out with a note to the new baby that Brandi will scrapbook at a later time.

I had a ton of fun with this event! I even gave Brandi a crash course in floral design so she can do her own arrangements when I can't be of service. : ) Who knows, with some practice, maybe she could open a second location of Bella Design Studio in Texas! Did somebody say Franchise??

Things are really going to slow down now. This was my last event during "wedding season." The bride opted for a twist on the traditional fall color scheme. We went with brighter shades of orange with splashes of pink. I loved how it turned out!
The bridal bouquet was a collection of roses, mini callas, hydrangea, bittersweet, & chocolate cosmos. The bridesmaids carried simple clusters of pink hydrangea.

Several centerpiece styles graced the tables. This was my favorite! Way different than any I have done lately. Long stem roses were arranged inside the vase amongst clear gems & water. The vases were lit from the base with disc lights.

Other tables housed cube vases with pink hydrangea blossoms.

The last style was lily bowls with floating gerbera daisies & floating candles. A very simple display but it comes across very striking with the candlelight & the reflection in the mirror.

The wedding was held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lees Summit, MO. The reception was at Bacchanalia in Overland Park, KS.

November 15th: Imre - Justus Wedding

This was a fun, fall wedding! The bride stayed somewhat traditional with a bouquet of ivory roses, hydrangea, mini callas, & accents of green hypericum berries.
The bridesmaids carried clusters of green spider mums, kermit poms, hypericum, & bittersweet berries.

Two different centerpiece styles filled the space. First were Bella's signature curly willow "trees" with orange gerbera daisies attached to the branches.

Second were cylinder trios filled with green apples submerged under water & lit from the base with large disc lights. Very simple, yet also very cool!

The wedding & reception were held at Sawyer Room in downtown Kansas City.

November 15th: Sinn - Luperico Wedding

Red roses were the theme of this wedding. The bride carried a bouquet of Black Magic roses with accents of folded aspidistra leaves, bear grass loops, & hypericum berries. Rhinestone accents were everywhere, including the bouquet & the ribbon treatment.
The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet.

The flower girl carried a cute pomander of red sweetheart roses, hypericum berries, & of course...bling!

The wedding was at The Cathedral in downtown Kansas City. The reception was at Town Pavilion.

November 8th: Jenni & Jeff

The bride's bouquet was composed of white roses, dahlias, arabicum, rosehips, & pyracanthus berries. The stems were wrapped with ivory satin ribbon & accented with raffia that held family photo charms provided by the bride. The bridesmaid bouquets were composed of red tulips, Sahara roses, chocolate cosmos, rosehips, & pyracanthus berries.

The bride provided me with french buckets for half of her centerpiece tables. We filled them with very natural, fall bouquets consisting of hydrangea, berries, wheat, grasses, sunflowers, roses, & dahlias.

I love how all of the colors jump out at the camera! This particular rose variety is called Abracadabra.

Other tables displayed my tabletop "trees." These are a much larger, sturdier display than my usual cylinder vase filled with branches. These branches sit on the table & form more of a tree look. There is reinforcement at the top of the structure that is suitable for hanging votive candles.

The wedding was held at Church of the Ascension in Overland Park, KS. The reception was held at the Lodge at Ironwoods in Leawood, KS.

November 8th: Allison & Alan

Allison chose blue hydrangea as her main floral decor. I love the simplicity of what we came up with! The bride carried a bouquet of blue hydrangea, white roses, white dahlias, arabicum, & green cymbidium orchids.

The bridesmaids wore chocolate brown dresses & carried simple clusters of blue hydrangea. We made pew cones out of chocolate brown fabric, filled them with blooms of hydrangea, & hung from the pews at the church.
We designed three centerpiece styles for the reception. The first was a large cylinder vase filled with hydrangea blooms submerged under water & topped with full displays of hydrangea & folded aspidistra leaves.

Other tables displayed a new twist on the ever-popular cylinder trio. Instead of putting the hydrangea in the vase under water, we surrounded the vases with a bed of hydrangea.

I also had the honor of doing centerpieces for the bridesmaid luncheon on Friday! We created long & low displays of hydrangea, roses, arabicum, & folded leaves.

Back to my hometown! Lesley & Luke's wedding was held at Heritage Hall in Topeka, KS. The hall provides only banquet tables, so the bride was concerned with how we could decorate so many LONG tables. Here is what we came up with: Each table had a mix of low & tall arrangements. We used an assortment of curly willow "trees", various size cube vases filled with roses, alstromeria, gerber daises, & dahlia, & votive candles.
The colors were perfect for the space! The bright oranges seemed to jump off the table & made quite an impact in the room!

The cube vases were wrapped with assorted styles of ribbon. The curly willow branches were uplit from the base with disc lights & had gerber daisy blooms attached to the branches.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of Circus roses, gerber daisies, dahlias, & sweetheart roses.

The bridal bouquet was composed of Circus roses, gerber daisies, sweetheart roses, snow berry, & hydrangea.

Kristin was looking for a "Modern Fall" look for her wedding & reception flowers. Her colors were green & brown. Here is what we came up with!

Several different centerpiece designs all incorporating green flowers, brown branches, & LED lights. Below is a low, fat cylinder filled with submerged manzanita branches & floating spider mums. The base of the vase was surrounded by green spider mums. Trees composed of dark brown curly willow branches inserted into a cylinder vase wrapped with large, green leaves & surrounded by a base of green spider mums. The branches housed hanging votive cups filled with LED lights.

Another tree display of manzanita branches & hanging votives all uplit from the base with a large LED light.

The bride's father cut large tree branches that lined the stage & served as the ceremony backdrop. Hanging votives decorated the branches & provided the candlelight glow the bride wanted for the ceremony.

Recognize this design! Yep, it is the same cake as on my October 18th post! Very cool cake, I can see why it is so popular!

The bridesmaids carried modern arm bouquets of white & green callas with a collar of folded leaves. The stems were bound with chocolate brown ribbon & accented with green metallic wire.

The wedding & reception were held at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, MO.

The ceremony backdrop was a 14 foot wall that was decorated with strands of hanging roses, dahlias, & gerber daisies.

Hot pink in the midst of all the fall colors & themes is quite refreshing in late October! I had a lot of fun with this event! I only did bridal party flowers & wreaths for the venue doors, but I had full creative freedom!

The bride wanted a fun, funky look & was open to feathers, wire, colored pins, non-traditional flower varieties, etc. This is what I came up with. Hot pink dahlias, garden roses, snowberry, nerine lillies, red amaranthus, & pink feathers!
The bridesmaids carried similar versions of the bride with variations in flower selection. They had dahlias, tulips, freesia, rannuculus, & amaranthus.

The wreaths turned out awesome! The bride brought me the hot pink monograms that I hung in the center of the fresh wreaths I created.

Old-fashioned & romantic. Those are the words Julie used to describe how she wanted her wedding flowers to look. Roses & hydrangea seem to be the perfect candidates!

The bride's bouquet was a collection of roses in shades of ivory, blush, & white. Simple accents of green hanging amaranthus trailed down the front of the bouquet.The bridesmaids carried fall hued clusters of the same. The colors looked fabulous against their burnt orange dresses!

The bride provided crystal vases & hurricanes that we used for centerpieces. The same flower/color combo was used on all tables. Pictured is the hurricane version with a wreath of roses & hydrangea around the base.

Saving the best for last! We designed this arch covered with curly willow, birch branches, & bittersweet to stand guard over the candy buffet! The arch was decorated with old-fashioned lollipops, sunflowers, roses, etc. This was my favorite piece of the whole event!

I have been looking forward to this event for a long time! Jennifer followed my blog for several weeks & finally contacted me about her wedding. Not only did she want me to do the flowers but also wanted me to cover day-of coordinating duties. That is something I have always thought I may want to get in to, so I said why not!

The bride's bouquet was composed of white dahlias, snowberry, canary grass, & lamb's ear.

The bridesmaids carried burgundy dahlias, cockscomb, & kale.

The reception tables were my favorite part! Each table was an eclectic mix of items the bride had been collecting mixed with vases, votives, & flowers from me! There were 34 tables & almost all of them were different in some way!
I wish I was able to take more photos! However, we began setting up tables at 9:30 am & didn't finish lighting the last candle until almost 7:00 pm! Not a lot of time to take pictures before guests started to arrive!

The gates at the entry to Starlight were flanked with these arrangements. Tall black urns were topped with white hydrangea, hanging amaranthus, & various fall grasses & foliages. Placed in the center were white pumpkins that had been carved (by me!) with the bride & grooms monogram.

The doors that entered into the stage were flanked with two more black urns but this time in festive fall tones with stacked pumpkins in the center! One of my favorite designs yet this year!

The cake was amazing & very tall! Sandy Danner created this masterpiece!

My husband got in on the pumpkin carving action as well! His take on the monogram was to actually carve it into the pumpkin & we used them to hold the bar menus!

This was one of my favorite table centerpieces. So simple, yet gorgeous!

That is all I have for photos. I can't wait to see what the photographer has! I did learn that I DO NOT want to do anymore day-of coordinating! I did my normal job of designing bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc for 30 hours leading up to the event. Then, we put in another 20 hours on Saturday (and Sunday morning!) setting up & being present throughout the entire event! It was great to see everything in action, but I think I will leave the coordinating to the professionals!

Shawnee Scarecrow Festival

Saturday, October 4th, is the annual Scarecrow Festival in Shawnee. Businesses in the city construct scarecrows that represent their business. This year, Michelle w/ Iced Art & I made a bride & groom! Naturally!
The bride was dressed in a vintage (aka thrift store!) bridal gown with a handmade veil, tiara, & dangling diamond earrings!
The groom was dapper in a black suit & tophat while carrying a rhinestone studded wedding cake!
No bride can be complete without her bling!
Michelle & I with our creations. We are so proud! I don't know if the city is giving prizes or not, but we should TOTALLY win!

The bride chose a color palette of hot pink, bright orange, & burnt orange. The bouquets were composed of roses, dahlias, orchids, & bittersweet. The bride wanted lots of different ribbon accents & provided the ribbons used on the bouquet.

The centerpieces were an assortment of various size cylinder vases all filled with river rock & orange Mokara orchid stems. The oblong tables had the vases stretched down the center.
The round tables had a cluster of 3 different height vases in the center of the tables.
A large vase of curly willow branches with Mokara orchids attached to branches decorated the buffet table.
The ceremony was held outside & the event site's metal arbor provided an excellent backdrop! The arbor was decorated with curly willow branches & Mokara orchids.

This was an AWESOME event! Gina was very open to ideas & really let me run with the flowers for her wedding! Really a dream client to work with!

The bridal bouquet was a vibrant mixture of gerber daisies, roses, dahlias, spider mums, hypericum berries, safflower, & hydrangea.
The bridesmaids each carried a different type of flower, all in shades of hot pink. Bouquets composed of roses, gerber daisies, & hydrangea.
This is where I had the most fun! The tables at the reception were long, banquet tables that were lined up in 16 foot sections. Each table was a mix & match ensemble of assorted flowers & vases. All of the vases were decorated with some sort of ribbon treatment, some personalized with monograms provided by the bride.
We used over 240 vases, 120 votive cups, & hundreds of yards of ribbon! I hope everyone really appreciated not only the flowers themselves, but the attention to detail that went in to each & every arrangement!
The buffets were decorated with fabulous displays of vases filled with Crenshaw watermelons topped with colorful bouquets of Bells of Ireland, roses, spider mums, gerber daisies, & hypericum berries.

Memory Garland. Great way to pay respect to loved ones no longer with us into your ceremony. This garland was approximately 5 feet long & composed of fresh greenery, vine maple, hydrangea, roses, berries, & mums. Names of those being honored were placed on card stock & tied to garland. The flower girls carried this down aisle & placed on altar.
Cake wasn't quite done yet! I had to hurry back to shop so the cake lady was going to put ribbon around the base of each tier when I was done. I thought it still looked pretty! How can't it with the great fall colors!

The ceremony was held at Stilwell United Methodist Church in Stilwell, KS. The reception was at Lodge of Ironwoods in Leawood, KS.

Guest tables were decorated with cylinder vases filled with solid color bouquets of gerber daisies or dahlias.
The ceremony backdrop was decorated with fall arrangements on each corner & strands of berries & hanging flowers across length of screen. Fall plant baskets anchored each end of the screen & provided for a nice keepsake for the mothers of the bride & groom!

The bridesmaids carried contemporary bouquets of flame mini callas surrounded by a collar of hot pink spray roses. Bear grass loops were incorporated throughout the bouquets. Instead of ribbon, a large Ti leaf was wrapped around the stems & secured with hot pink metallic wire & hot pink pins.

Bridal bouquet composed of hydrangea, spray roses, standard roses, & garden roses. Using an assortment of roses in different shapes & sizes gives a traditional rose bouquet unexpected texture & romance. The garden roses were very fragrant & lent a very old-fashioned appeal to the bouquet.
The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal with subdued color. Pale pinks, soft yellows, & fresh greens were incorporated to coordinate with champagne colored dresses.

The altar flowers were tall cylinder vases filled with curly willow branches topped with displays of larkspur, hydrangea, roses, lilies, & limonium.

Turquoise has become a hot color this season! As you can imagine, there aren't ANY flowers in that color but there are some cool things we can do with non-floral accents to bring the color into the flowers. The reception tables were covered in black linens with turquoise table runners. We did a few different style centerpieces. Above is a tall cylinder vase filled with curly willow branches & green orchids. Do you see the fish swimming amongst the flowers? The vases were uplit from the base with disc lights.
The bridesmaids wore turquoise dresses & carried modern bouquets of white calla lilies, folded tropical leaves, & spider mums.
The bride's bouquet was a gorgeous grouping of white oriental lilies. Very fragrant & very large but it was awesome! To pull the turquoise in we weaved colored wire throughout the bouquet which worked well for her desired modern look.
The boutonnieres were white mini callas with accents of turquoise wire on the stem.
Another centerpiece style. Notice the wire swirled in one of the vases instead of flowers. Pretty cool!

August 16th: St. Andrew's Bridal Fair

Bouquet of Ravel roses, hot pink spray roses, & green hydrangea. Stems were wrapped with 3 ribbon varieties & accented with a rhinestone buckle.Contemporary style fall bouquet composed of flame mini callas, orange spray roses, burgundy cymbidium orchids, & vine maple.
I loved this bouquet! An assortment of dahlias in shades of burgundy, orange, & pink with stemmed kale. Stems were wrapped with brown satin & an overlay of sage green.
Another of my favorites! Combination of Freedom & Red Intuition roses trimmed with black feathers. Stems were wrapped with black satin ribbon & finished with rhinestone buckle.
Earthy display of euphorbia, Sahara roses, scabiosa pods, & amaranthus.

Tall centerpiece composed of birch branches surrounded by euphorbia, Sahara roses, & stemmed artichokes.

I was given a theme of red, black, & silver for the guest table setup. I chose to do a vase of red dogwood branches. I attached crystals & red roses to the branches. The top of the vase was lined with black feathers. I wrapped black wire around outside of vase & attached red roses in sort of a "climbing" fashion. Definitely using the opportunity to be creative!

This centerpiece centered around a really cool, preserved curly willow branch I found. The branch has been dyed a deep, coffee brown & is very sturdy. You could hang many things from the branches...in this case I hung cymbidium orchids. The branches sat in a base of green spider mums. This was my first attempt at doing anything with these branches. I thought it turned out pretty cool!

Studio 1000 Tonight!

Just a reminder that I will be at Studio 1000 (Club 1000's new 3rd floor venue.) The open house runs from 6:00 - 8:00. I have lots of different centerpiece styles on display in sort of a "mix & match" style, so there are a wide variety of options for every price range! Here are a few details of the space:

This space has an incredible sound system, wireless xbox, 3.000 karaoke song titles, 30,000 itunes song titles, electric piano, 3 high def TV's, slide show presentation though high def. television monitors, built in bar, wireless microphone and internet access.

I have a couple of pictures in my email but I can't attach them to the blog. You will just have to come tonight & see the space for yourself! It really is one of my new favorites!

I know, I know...long time, no posts! Believe me, I have been super busy! Unfortunately, my camera malfunctioned during the week of June 21st & the photos I have on there from June 7th & 14th are irretrievable at the moment...so that is my excuse for not posting!

I am going to be participating in a couple of upcoming open houses if anyone wants to drop by & say "Hi"! I will be at Club 1000 in their new 3rd floor space on Wednesday, July 16th beginning at 6:00.

I will also be at St. Andrew's Golf Course on August 16th from 11 - 3.

Buffet arrangement in footed glass urn filled with sliced kiwi fruit. Vase filled with curly willow branches with gerber daisies attached to branches. Curly willow surrounded by a wreath of hydrangea, roses, lillies, & peonies.

Bridal bouquet composed of Anna roses, peonies, rannuculus, hydrangea, & mock orange. Finished with loops of bear grass, Solomon seal, & white satin ribbon.

Bridesmaid bouquet of hot pink roses, rannuculus, peonies, & kermit poms. Finished with bear grass loops, Solomon seal, & pink satin ribbon.

Chair flowers composed of pink peonies, roses, & mock orange. Hung with pink tulle. These doubled as centerpieces at the reception.

Altar flowers in a tall cylinder vase filled with submerged hydrangea blossoms & topped with arrangements of snapdragons, larkspur, roses, peonies, columbine, bleeding heart, & mock orange.

The wedding & reception were held at Club 1000 in Kansas City, MO.

The wedding was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, KS. The reception was at the Sawyer Room in Kansas City, MO.

This is an event where I really wish I had more pictures to post!

AMAZING!!! The bride wanted to make a statement when guests walked into the venue so we created this! A large glass urn was filled with sliced oranges & topped with a wreath of assorted blooms in shades of orange, white, & green. Atop the wreath sat a display of leaved manzanita branches from which strands of crystals & hanging votives filled with acolytes hung. It was something to see!

The outside ceremony was anchored by 2 huge displays of curly willow which stood over 6 feet tall! The branches were adorned with gerber daisy & clematis blooms.

There were a few different centerpiece styles. Pictured are a trio of cylinder vases filled orange wedges, viburnum blooms, & green orchids topped with cylinder candles. Other tables had curly willow "trees" with green orchid blooms on the branches & cylinder vases that housed the bridesmaid bouquets.

The bridesmaids carried vibrant bouquets in shades of orange & green. Flowers used were roses, rannuculus, hydrangea, hypericum, buplerum, heleborus, dubium, & foliage from viburnum branches. The stems were wrapped with a striped grosgrain ribbon in shades of green.

The wedding & reception were held at Indian Hills Country Club.

May 24th: Jessica & Kyle

Jessica's bouquet was gorgeous!! We used assorted flowers in shades of deep red with rhinestone accents throughout. Flowers consisted of peonies, Black Magic roses, rannuculus, spray roses, & orchids. The stems were covered with a deep red satin & banded with rhinestones.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of standard calla lillies surrounded by a collar of Black Magic Roses. The stems were covered in black satin ribbon & treated with a line of rhinestones.

The altar was decorated with 2 large glass urn vases filled with standard calla lillies surrounded by a wreath of Black Magic roses & peonies.

The reception tables had cubes filled with assorted red flowers from bridal bouquet. The vase was wrapped with black satin & "tied" with a rhinestone buckle.

Other tables carried striking arrangements of tall cylinder vases filled with dendrobium orchids & topped with calla lillies, bear grass, & Black Magic roses. The vases were uplit from the base with disc lights. I hear they were amazing with the lights on!Rebekah Foster created the cake. A 4-tier tower of butter cream filled with rhinestone centered roses! Gorgeous!!

The wedding was at Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, MO. The reception was held at Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Kansas City, MO.

Megan's bouquet was composed of white peonies, ivory lisianthus, white rannuculus, & green viburnum.

The ceremony area was decorated with pillars topped with urns filled with garden style arrangements. The arrangements consisted of viburnum, hydrangea, lisianthus, peonies, rannuculus, & spray roses, all in shades of white, ivory, & green.

The wedding & reception were held at Terrace on the Green in south Johnson County, KS.

May 17th: Renee' & Robin

Renee' chose a color scheme of assorted shades of purple with accents of green. For the bouquets we used purple & lavender stock, lavender roses, purple lisianthus, green viburnum, & kermit poms.

Katie's wedding was held at Visitation Church. Her reception was at Berg Event Space.

Simple & Elegant! Katie's bouquet was composed of white peonies, ivory roses, & green viburnum.

The bridal party was huge! Katie had 9 bridesmaids so we opted for budget-friendly clusters of green spiders, kermit poms, bear grass loops, & an orchid bloom. We added a little pizazz to the flowers by placing green pearls in the center of some of the poms!

Katie's centerpieces were Bella's signature curly willow "tree" with orchid blooms attached to the branches. The vases were uplit from the base with disc lights.

Other tables carried cube vases with compact displays of roses, peonies, or hydrangea.

The buffet housed a large cylinder vase filled with curly willow branches decorated with orchid blooms surrounded by clusters of locally grown viburnum branches.

May 10th: Kim & Davin

For now, you will just have to take my word on it...This wedding was AMAZING! Kim wanted to do somewhat of an Italian/wine theme. I only have one picture right now of one of the centerpieces. The bride had wine bottles with personalized labels that we created a centerpiece around using roses, grapes, grapevine, & greenery. I took this picture before setup.

Her photographer was Matt Nichols w/Nichols & Co. He showed me a couple of the images he had taken before I left & they were awesome! Can't wait to see them all!

One of my weddings on the 10th consisted of my favorite color combo...hot pink & orange! The bride carried a bouquet of hot pink peonies, orange roses, & white sweet pea.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bridal, without the white sweet pea.

The reception centerpieces were really cool! She had 24-foot long tables that we created tablescapes on using trifle bowls filled with garden roses, viburnum, peonies, & oranges at each end of the table. In between we did an assortment of items from cylinders with floating candles, orbs composed of kermit poms, small vases with fully bloomed roses, pillar candles, & votives. All of the items were tied together by the hot pink runner that ran the length of the table. No pictures yet, but the photographer promised some to come!
